There are so many different walkie talkies in the market. Different brands and different models. Their software and functions all have somewhat different. Just like some radios have work mode parameter and some radios don't have.
Here I will show you what's the work mode of walkie talkie, why do some radio have and some radio don't.
there are generally three work modes, Simplex, Repeater and Double Solt.
Simplex: Two radios communicate with each other directly.
Repeater: Two radios communicate with each other through repeater.
Double Slot: It is another appellation of DCDM. It make the time slots work in simplex mode.
Take an example with Retevis RT82 and Ailunce HD1.
Open the RT82 software, click into the channel setting. We find there is not work mode setting except the only DCDM. Why?
That's because RT82 don't support different transmit and receivie frequency in simplex mode.
For RT82, when we set the same transmit and receive frequency in one channel, it defaults simplex mode, and when we set the different transmit and receive frequency in one channel, it defaults repeater mode. No need to set, both are system defaults according to the frequency settings.
If you want to open DCDM function. just check it in simplex mode(transmit frequency is same with receive frequency).
Open the HD1 software, click into the channel setting. We can find there is a parameter named work mode. Why?
That's because the HD1 support different transmit and receivie frequency in simplex mode.
For HD1, the system don't default the work mode according to the frequency settings. Even we set the different transmit and receive frequency, we also can select the simplex mode. It only means we can transmit on one frequency and receive on another frequency, don't through repeater.
Double solt means DCDM, if we need the time slot work in simplex mode, just select it.
