Bluetooth KISS TNC and APRSDroid APP Compatibility Setup Guide
Pairing the device with the APRSDroid software on an Android phone via Bluetooth SPP serial port enables standard APRS bidirectional radio communication, supporting functions such as location beacon reporting, station reception, and point-to-point message sending and receiving.
Applicable Scenarios: Outdoor amateur radio monitoring, hiking/vehicle-mounted mobile APRS positioning, local radio APRS networking (can also be used in environments without network access).
Prerequisites: The latest version of APRSDroid must be installed on the mobile phone, the device's Bluetooth KISS TNC function must be working properly, and it must comply with local radio usage regulations and legal frequency usage requirements.

Ailunce HA2 device setup
- Frequency and Basic Parameter Settings:
- Adjust the Band A/B VFO or channel frequency to the local standard APRS frequency.
- Disable the CTCSS sub-tone and DCS digital mute on the current channel (the sub-tone will intercept APRS digital data packets, resulting in the inability to receive and decode);
- Appropriately lower the squelch threshold to ensure that weak APRS signals can be demodulated and received normally.
Enable Bluetooth KISS TNC Mode:
- Enable Bluetooth on the device. Menu path: BT Power > On.
- Select TNC working mode settings; Menu path: BT Mode > KISS TNC SPP;
- The Ailunce HA2 enters Bluetooth pairing mode.
Phone Bluetooth Pairing Instructions:
- 1. Turn on Bluetooth on your Android phone and enable discoverable mode;
- 2. Search for and select the Ailunce HA2 (BT) device name to pair;
- 3. No further action is required after successful pairing; keep the Bluetooth connection active.
APRSDroid App Detailed Configuration
Open APRSDroid, click on the top right corner 【More】-【Settings/Preferences】, and configure each item according to the following parameters.
Basic User Information Settings
Settings Interface Description: Enter the preferences homepage. The basic information section is the core configuration for APRS identity. The corresponding interface parameters are as follows:
- Call Sign: Enter your personal amateur radio call sign (required; without a call sign, you cannot send or receive signals);
- SSID: Recommended for mobile handheld radios -7;
- APRS Icon: Select icons for scenarios such as hiking, vehicle-mounted, fixed station, and cycling as needed;
- Beacon Transmission Interval: 510 minutes outdoors, 35 minutes for vehicle-mounted. High-frequency packet transmission is prohibited to prevent congestion on the channel;
- Beacon Annotations: Customize device status, travel status, duty scenarios, and other remarks (optional);
Connection Method Core Settings
Settings Entry: Preferences → Connection Settings/Connection Preferences (APP core configuration page, determines TNC interoperability mode)
- Connection Protocol: Select TNC (KISS)
- Connection Type: Bluetooth SPP Serial Port
- TNC Bluetooth Device: Select the successfully paired Ailunce HA2 / Bluetooth KISS TNC device from the dropdown menu
- TNC Initialization Command: Leave all blank
- Initialization Delay: Default 300ms (Compatible with most Bluetooth TNC devices, no modification required)
- APRS digi path:wide1-1,wide2-1 by default (North America); in Europe wide1-1,wide2-2, or change as needed.



Connection and Functionality Tests

- Return to the APRSDroid main interface and click 【Start Tracking】. If the page displays "Bluetooth OK", pairing is successful.
- APP Transmission Test: Manually 【send position】to send a location beacon. If the device's transmit indicator light illuminates and nearby APRS devices can receive it normally, it works OKAY.
- Device Reception Test: If the APP can decode and display the message normally after nearby stations send APRS messages and beacons, and the map automatically refreshes the station's location, two-way communication is normal.
Steps to send an APRS message:
- Tap the right triangle icon at the top of the APRSdroid page to enter the messaging interface.
- Select "Send Message," enter the target call sign with the SSID, and fill in the message content. APRS message standard limits: single message content ≤ 67 characters, supports Chinese and English, numbers, and symbols;
- If the message is sent successfully, the corresponding message content will turn green.
- If the message is received successfully, the content is blue.
