How to initialize Retevis RT23?

Retevis RT23 is a U/V dual-band handheld amateur radio with dual PTT, dual display, and dual standby that supports cross-band repeater. The amateur radio allows the hams to program it. When the walkie-talkie cannot work normally due to wrong operations, we can try to restore the factory settings, also known as initialization. RT23 supports two methods to initialize it, one is shortcut key initialization, the other is software initialization.

Shortcut key initialization

The shortcut key initialization can choose either VFO or FULL initialization. VFO initialization is only to reset the channel information, and FULL initialization is to reset all information, including basic settings and channel settings.

VFO initialization

Press PTT and side key 1 and turn on RT23 at the same time. After displaying "VFO?", release PTT and side key 1 to complete VFO initialization.

FULL initialization

Press PTT and side key 2 and turn on RT23 at the same time. After displaying "FULL?", release PTT and side key 2 to complete FULL initialization.

Software initialization

Software initialization is "FULL" initialization. We must download and install the driver and software of RT23, then download the factory codeplug from the following link and successfully write it to RT23 to complete the initialization.
